The BFA in Photography programme offered by the Indian Institute of Photography integrates photography along with every facet of art & design. Through this programme, students' creativity is carefully and constantly nurtured as they are encouraged to find and develop their own unique visual language and vocabulary through a process of investigation, critiquing, creative conceptualizing, self-reflection and practice.
Learning will take place within project-based studio environment in which students will be encouraged to actively participate and develop skills in key contemporary photographic production processes. Students will also gain a comprehensive understanding of photographic techniques, practice and history; go on field trips and optional study visits to different cities and benefit from a visiting lecture programme with speakers from a wide range of photographic practices.
The programme aims to provide students with an in-depth education and training in the artistic practice of photography and digital imaging technology. Upon completion of the programme, students would be able to master the professional skills in photography with natural and artificial lighting; apply modern digital techniques creatively in the making of new forms of photographic work of art and develop a personal style and philosophy in art through the exploration of the potential of photographic images as a unique form of contemporary media.
The BFA graduates of IIP will have the awareness and skills to interpret and shape their field once they graduate. The areas that students can move into include; fashion, advertising, architecture, documentary, photojournalism, publishing, post- production, publishing, exhibition practice, and teaching.
Upon successful completion of the programme, students are offered a UGC recognised degree from Himalayan University, Arunanchal Pradesh which will open unlimited avenues for them both nationally and internationally.
